A FRontline Infectious Disease EpiDemic (ide) Preparedness CENTER IN Bamako, Mali
GAIA Vaccine Foundation and the ASACOMSI have applied to ASHA to build Sikoro Keneyasso, an 8,000 square foot, two-story facility that will feature urgent walk-in care, laboratory, IDE detection and containment divisions, a conference room, and classrooms.
Sikoro Keneyasso will offer crucial routine medical services that include pediatrics, adolescent medicine, internal medicine, therapeutic care and chronic disease follow up care for hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. In addition, tuberculosis care, malaria care, HIV/AIDS treatment, malnutrition care, public hygiene, sanitation activities and promotional vaccinations for the National Vaccination Program, an onsite laboratory for routine testing and a Pharmacy.
A maternity and delivery ward will also be constructed to offer family planning, prenatal care, vaccinations during pregnancy, MTCTP, obstetrics, childbirth delivery services, postnatal consultations and neonatal emergency care.
The Sikoro Keneyasso state-of-the-art laboratory will be used for detecting IDE, conducting IDE research and training technicians. All of these integrated components are designed to strengthen IDE preparedness in Mali.
